Latin name: Corvus corone

Size: Approximately 45cms

Distribution: Found throughout the U.K.

Months seen: All year round

Food: Just about anything. Omnivorous

Habitat: farmland, towns and parks. Sometimes seen scavenging at the sides of road on roadkills.

Special features: Birds south of the Scottish border nearly always have all black plumage with a metallic green-blue sheen. More northerly crows have grey bodies with black head and wing patches. See: Hooded Crows
