Size:  Approx 18cm.  Wingspan up to 48cm

Distribution:  Found all around the coast of the UK, especially along the east coast of Scotland and England

Months seen:  October to February

Life Span: Up to 25 years

Habitat:  Coastal

Food:  Plankton, fish and other marine creatures

Special features:  Little Auks are small seabirds with black, white and brown plumage.  They have a short neck, short stubby beak, and short wings and tail.  They usually fly fast and low over the surface of the sea.

Little Auks breed in the high arctic and are only seen around the UK in winter.
