First prize for the most dramatic flower show this month has to go to the bluebells.  They literally turn woodland floors blue.  If it happened anywhere else on the planet it would be a world-wide tourist attraction.  If word of this ever gets out we'll have visitors from the four corners of the earth invading us every spring to see this floral spectacular.

The annual blooming of bluebells in the U.K. is a sight which is unmatched anywhere else on earth.  Our unique Atlantic coast climate allow the bluebells to grow in such profusion they literally carpet whole woodland floors.

Bluebells start growing as early as January.  Because they are mainly found in a woodland environment they need to bloom and set seed before the trees above them come into leaf and block out their light.  The peak of flowering is usually between late April and early May.
