This picture of a pair of goldfinches was taken by
Mike Young in his back garden, proving once again you don't have to travel long
distances to get a great photo.
The male is on the left and the female lower down the stem. The picture was
taken from a hide using a Nikon D200 with a 50-500 Sigma set to 500mm and at its closest
focus distance. The teasel seed head was baited with Nyjer seed - a favourite seed of
goldfinches.
