This shot was taken near Barrie's home in North Wales on an Industrial estate of all places. On this estate, there are a few acres of undeveloped scrubland and this has become home to 5 or 6 Short Eared Owls that can be seen hunting (and courting at this time of year) in the late afternoons.
To get the shot Barrie used a Canon 1D-II digital SLR and a Canon 500mm lens with 1.4x
convertor.
