A virus which is fatal to red squirrels. Most die within a week of being infected.

Symptoms include lethargy, skin ulcers, scabs as well as discharge and swelling swelling around the eyes, mouth, and genitals.

Grey squirrels are carriers of the disease, but have developed antibodies, so they rarely die from it.
