Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Flowering months: Does not flower, but remains green and fertile for most of the year.

Special features: The hard fern is one of the few plants which remain green throughout the winter. The long flat fronds are actually sterile, and the short erect fronds are the fertile ones.
