Size: Up to 20mm long
Distribution: Found in mainly in central Scotland but also in timberyards in other areas of the UK
Months seen: March to September
Life Span: Up to 3 years (includes 1-2 years as larva)
Habitat: Pine forests
Food: Larvae live and feed in rotted Scots Pine wood
Special features: The Timberman is a greyish colour with some brown mottling. It can be easily recognised by its long antennae which are three times as long as the body in the males, and twice the length of the body in the females.
