Size: Approx 5 to 7mm long
Distribution: Found throughout the UK
Months seen: March to October
Habitat: Fields, woodland edges, roadsides, and beside ponds and streams
Food: Dock and Sorrel plants
Special features: Green Dock Beetles have bright green metallic coloured bodies which can look gold and green in sunlight. The females are usually larger tthan the males with an enlarged abdomen.
The larvae look similar to ladybird larvae and can vary in colour from dark grey to brown in colour.
Green Dock Beetles hibernate through the winter as adult beetles.
