Distribution: Found in some parts of the U.K. Absent from Ireland, east Scotland and the Midlands

Habitat: Prefers flowing streams. Often seen away from water over heaths and moorland

Special features: The Golden-ringed dragonfly is one of the largest dragonflies seen in the UK. Its green eyes and black body marked with bright yellow (gold) rings differentiate it from any other species.
