Green Shield Bug

Green Shield Bug - Photo © Copyright 2004 Gary Bradley
Photo: G. Bradley

Latin name: Palomena prasina

Special features: Shield bugs have a very flattened body. You need to have good eyesight to see them, because they are very well camouflaged amongst their green habitat.  In summer they're bright green, and in the autumn they turn brown before hibernating in leaf litter.
