You could find one of these in February, but you'd be lucky. Very few people ever get to see one. Like the goths of the spider world this species goes out of its way to avoid sunlight. Cave spiders spend the majority of their lives in total darkness.
As the name suggests their natural environment is in caves, but you can sometimes find them in other dimly let places such as; cellars, attic spaces, tunnels, sewers, under manhole covers, and a few peple have reported finding them inside their kettle barbeques.
The cave spider is one of the largest spiders in the U.K. with a head and body length of up to 15mm.
