Kissing Season

Latest News >   Kissing Season >

There's an old English saying that when gorse is out of bloom, then kissing is out of season.  Luckily we have three species of gorse here in the UK, and at any time of the year at least one of them is in flower.  Even on a chilly February day you can find these bushes displaying their bright yellow flowers.

Gorse is an evergreen shrub covered with rigid spines.  If you're a vegetable grower you'll probably recognise the flower because gorse is a member of the pea family.  On a hot day you can hear the seed pods popping open.
