Hedgehog next to a bonfire by G. Bradley

Remember, remember, the hedgehogs in November.  Tucked away amongst piles of sticks and leaves Hedgehogs are just starting their winter hibernation.  The timing is unfortunate because once again Guy Fawkes Night is upon us.

If you have a pile of garden rubbish that you're planning to burn this month, please turn it over before lighting it to check that no wildlife has crawled inside for a nap.  The smell of scorched hedgehog isn't nice, and by all accounts it's not too good for the hedgehog either.

Ideally start your fire next to your pile of wood, and add bits to the fire as it burns.
